Mild Form Of Gum Disease May Begin From Swollen Gums

It has been found out that 60 percent of the population is suffering from a mild form of gum disease which makes avoidance complicated. Brushing and flossing teeth properly can reduce the chance of swollen gums, however this cannot definitely guarantee that the condition may not recur. Especially when one does not observe proper oral hygiene. Bacterial plaque that collects and hardens into tartar on the surface of the teeth and along the gumline is the primary cause of swollen gums. To remove this, one may need a dental cleaning with the help of a dental hygienist. Allowing tartar and plaque to remain on teeth may cause swollen gums to advance into a more serious and perilous infection that causes additional illness.
